Lifting up your spirits

We've all had those days, where things just don't seem to go our way. You find out the guy/girl your crushing on doesn't like you, or you did completely horrible on an exam, or maybe your hormones are just bouncing around. We've all had it. Here are 15 ways to lift your spirits that do not involve drugs and alchohal.


1- Listen to some fun music, I like to listen to "Walking on Sunshine" By Aly and Aj, its a fun and happy song that lifts your spirits easy as 1,2,3. Don't listen to songs that would keep you back in that lousy mood.

2-- Phone up a friend and just talk with them, sometimes then can crack up a joke and bring you back into a good mood. Hey, thats what friends are for.

3- Go for a walk, better yet if you have a dog take him/or/them for a walk. Nature itself is soothing and can help you erase that horrible feeling.

4- Watch a comedy. Whether it's Television or a Movie, no one can hate a good comedy.

5- Prepare your favorite food/drink. Now don't stoop down so low to eat until your happy but just something light, preparing the food/drink alone can get you to forget why your in a lousy mood. And the food/drink itself makes it all worth while.

6- Play a video game, on the computer or on ps2. Anything, sometimes fighting games can help relieve your anger instead of releasing all of your problems out on someone, physically or verbally.

7- Chat with some friends online. They are bound to cheer you up.

8- If enjoy making graphics, go ahead and make some. Choose a picture of your favorite celebrity and edit a picture of them. Or if you like to get revenge on someone, do it in a healthy way. Take a picture of them and destroy it. Then I advise you to delete it afterwards.

9- If you like to talk, talk to a friend, teacher or parent about what you are going through. Sometimes they can help alot more than you'd think.

10- Flip on your stero, and dance around to the music. Just go crazy. Have fun, jumpy music to dance to.

11- Sometimes a good cry can help to. But don't cry too much. Set yourself a time limit at the end of each week to cry. Maybe 15min on Friday. But I don't advise that alot.

12- Get a scrap piece of paper, or a notebook and write down all your feelings, Either in a poem, song or just random scribbles on the page.

13- If you have a punchbag, take a whack at it a few times. Let out your anger. Or better yet, scream really loud into your pillow.

14- Clean a room or your bedroom, too keep your mind off your situation. Im pretty sure your parents would be happy with you.

15- The classic, Diary/Journal. Alot of people have them, don't be afraid to express your feelings to a piece of paper. Thats what a shreader is for, you can always erase it or just tear it apart.
